Product Description

Life sucks when your friends are pissed at you.

Just ask Zoey Redbird – she’s become an undisputed expert on suckiness. In one week she has gone from having three boyfriends to having none, and from having a tight-knit group of friends who trusted and supported her, to being an outcast.  And the worst part is, she knows it’s her own fault.  Speaking of friends, the only two Zoey has left are undead, unMarked, and unable to stop bickering with each other.  So who can blame her for befriending the House of Night’s newest transfer student, the majorly hot Olympic archer, James Stark?

Meanwhile, Neferet has declared a war on humans after it appears that the People of the Faith have murdered two vampyres.  But Aphrodite’s latest visions show a world completely different from the High Priestess’s promises, a world full of violence, hatred, and darkness, all because of Zoey’s death—and the only way it seems she can prevent it from happening is to make things right with her friends.  Zoey knows in her heart that fighting with humans is wrong. But will anyone listen to her?  Zoey's adventures at vampyre finishing school take a wild and dangerous turn as loyalties are tested, shocking true intentions come to light, and an ancient evil is awakened in PC and Kristin Cast's spellbinding fourth House of Night novel.

SOOOO AMAZING
This is one of the greatest series I've ever read! I can't wait for the last ones to publish!

Unanswered questions
WHERE ARE THE ANSWERS??!!

Gosh, I'm tired of asking questions. Every book only brings up more. I keep expecting some kind of closure at the end, but instead, it opens more questions for a sequel. I believe that good series keep people can keep people reading without cliffhangers and the like. In this series, I keep waiting for the big battle, or whatever the story is leading up to. But each book drops off without really finishing.

Despite the interesting premise, I think I'm going to stop reading. All the questions are annoying.

Zoey just isn't exactly the best character for me
The 4th House of Night Novel starts off with Zoey abandoned by all. Her three boyfriends are no longer in the picture, her best friends don't trust her anymore, Aphrodite is missing and so is Stevie Rae. But of course, this is Zoey and in a matter of pages she has everything she wanted yet again. Aphrodite is with her, Stevie Rae is fine and her best friends trust her again. Oh, and Erik is starting to talk to her again. Everything is good in the life of Zoey except that Neferet trying to destroy the world.

I really try to like these house of night novels, but there are so many things that make me roll my eyes. Must Zoey really emphasize how rich Aphrodite is? Everything of Aphrodite's is explained with and adjective to describe how rich she is. The authors over describe everything to the point where you don't even want to read anymore because it is repetitive. Yes, Aphrodite is rich it doesn't need to be pushed in our face anymore. That isn't the only thing the authors overly explain over and over again, just one of the many examples.

Also, how can it be that Zoey is always in the right place at the right time? She just so happens to wander by and hear conversations that give her the one up on the situtation. And when everything is not going her way she can just magically call up the elements and they will willingly do her biding.

Zoey is nearly an adult at the age of 17. But she is still portrayed as a kid and everyone else around her as a kid. If the authors wanted to portray everyone younger then they should have made the characters 13 and 14. Not 17 and 19. Zoey is running around saying bullpoopy and other childish words. Yes, I get the fact that the authors doesn't want Zoey to cuss but there are other more mature words that she could use and not cuss. I think that is what is making me have a hard time with this novel, they are suppose to be an older age than they are actually are but there choices of dialogue are making them feel much younger.

Cursed to be Chosen
As the fourth book in the series, the authors continue to do an excellent job with Untamed by keeping with the balance of "normal" with the supernatural - and this time Zoey Redbird as equal parts problems on both sides of the fence. I kind of feel sorry for her at the point in which James Stark dies in her arms - Nyx may have Chosen her for some great purpose, but she still deserves a friend or two, and not the kind that die and turn into something else. Otherwise, the whole being-chosen thing can seem more like a curse. The plotline of "The Chosen One" may be milked by fantasy authors across the board, but the book does not dwell on this aspect too much, and moves at a fast pace to the climax of the book. I found myself wondering what Zoey Redbird is supposed to do with the remaining three years that she is to remain at school before she completes the Change if all of these problems are arising within the span of a few months. At the rate that Zoey is progressing, she will be covered in blue tattoos from head to toe, have an army of red Vampyres to do her bidding, and enough power to be the strongest High Priestess in Vampyre history - and that's all before she completes the Change. I love this series, I just hope that the authors can maintain this momentum.

Favorite of the Series So Far!
Right off the bat, this is my favorite book of The House of Night series. Yes, it's only book 4, but it is fantastic. This book doesn't deal with Zoey's love life as much as the others have. I'm all for the ooey-gooey bits, but this one does well without her having a boy (or man) in her life. It focuses on Zoey coming into her own and she is beginning to portray the high priestess that she really is.

A new character, Stark, is introduced, but his part is just too short in this book, so I'm hoping there will be more to come of him in the future books. Neferet has truly gone evil and Aphrodite is, gasp, nice! I finally like Aphrodite and am happy to read about her snobby self without wanting to smack her. Zoey's Grandma comes to stay at The House of Night and it is easy to feel the love all of the fledglings feel towards this woman. The Cast's did a wonderful job of weaving Cherokee stories into the book for both background purposes and featuring the tales up front and center.

The novel is a quick read because it's just so hard to put it down. The book comes to a close in the midst of the action and you are left unaware of what's happened to some of the characters outside of the main group of friends. It is the biggest cliffhanger of the series thus far, leaving us waiting to find out how Zoey will save the world.
