Perfect for my son! (And his mom) |
I bought this for my son, who is a VERY sensitive boy and feels very deeply. When he gets upset or sad about something, it is intense. This book was written just for him. He is seven, and related very well to it. (He is a deep, thoughtful thinker, and an advanced reader, so I'm not sure it would be on the level of an average 7 year old)) We read it together, a chapter at a time, and then he asked to keep it in his room. I notice that the bookmark moves around in the book from time to time. Occasionally we talk about it and it seems to really be making a difference for him. I love how it is written, and I cannot lie, I go in and read it for myself as well. It is simple and straightforward, and I love the simple yet true thoughts and solutions. It has helped me as well. |

Great tools to help kids identify and understand anger. It also gives easy to follow tips on how to control anger. This book would benefit all school teachers, parents and anyone who deals with kids. Excellent book. |

GREAT BOOK FOR THE ANGRRRRY KID IN YOUR FAMILY |
I ordered several items to help discuss "anger issues" with our just-turned-six-year-old. This was my favorite. I was pleased with the clever ideas and entertaining illustrations in this book. It was rather "wordy" for his age and attention span (which is normally long - we read a lot of books together) so I went through with pen and ruler and marked through 60% of the words. He (and his younger sister) now enjoy it in one reading and are already discussing ways they can calm themselves. (I am ordering a second book and leaving it unmarked for our older children.) This is a good book for adults to read as well! It gives good sound advice and reminders of how to control your temper and set the example. It clearly shows how to avoid causing hard feelings and resentment with family and/or friends. I also found a poster on-line (not the same authors/illustrators as this book) that gives "top-ten ways to control anger". I hope that will help as a visual reminder of the concepts he is learning in this book. |

Book for parents, and kids over age 10 |
As I went through this book, I felt that the information given required a fairly high level of self-awareness and reading skill to benefit from it. An excellent resource for a parent or teacher, I feel the younger child (10 years and younger) would retain information most from having an adult read portions to them. It would be helpful if it related to the immediate problem the child is having, or is interested in. The book doesn't seem to lend itself to a read from cover to cover, but would be better read and/or discussed in segments, even for the older child. I really like the content, but was looking for a book for younger children. |

Good for kids |
I had my client read a few chapters, and this allowed him to understand why he does the things he does. Good reference that Kids can use. |
