Sassy, in-your-face account of an intelligent, flippant Brooklyn girl who lives in the projects and dreams of college. Ariyan Johnson is captivating as the teen with attitude and a brain, but she cannot decide which should guide her. She wants a better life but finds herself taking a very hard road. First-time writer/director Leslie Harris put together a sharp, realistic, very funny account of life for a young black woman. It is rough around the edges, however, and is definitely hampered by the minuscule budget. This may not always be pretty, but it is consistently interesting. --Rochelle O'Gorman |

Great Scare Tactic for young teenage girls!!! |
I watched this movie years and years ago. The entire movie is very interesting. Nowadays teenagers are concerned about the wrong things instead of thinking about the consequences of their actions. This movie is a great scare tactic if a mom wanted to allow her teenage daughter to watch it. Chantel, the main character in this movie makes horrible horrible choices that will affect her for the rest of her life. It will surely make you think before you act. It wasn't neccesarily based on a true story, but we all know things like this can happen and have happened. |

EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS FILM |
I stumbled upon this movie back in 2002 when I was in the 9th grade. It was on Blackstarz television. I was bored, and said "What the heck, nothing else is on." I am forever grateful for that, because this movie really sent out a message. Chantell was your typical teenager, but she had dreams of doing something with her life. And just like any other teen, she falls in love and doesn't use her head when she has unprotected sex with Tyrone. She is scared and hides her pregnancy and luckily at the end she kept the baby and attended school. Although, in reality the happy ending doesn't always or never will happen. I recommend teen girls and boys watch this movie. You can really learn something, I did :-) |

A Real Classic |
I first saw this movie years ago while looking for something to watch on TV. I was immediately interested from the beginning and was definitely changed after I watched it. I couldn't believe that I'd never heard about this film and wanted to share it with everybody that I knew. Chantel's (the star) life was a real depiction of how so many young, smart, girls with big dreams get caught up but doesn't give up. The story can give hope to young, single mothers and inspire them to pursue their dreams no matter what. It should help others who haven't been pregnant consider the real consequences that come along with having sex and getting pregnant. This film also shows that some young fathers do step up and help raise their child and that's great. It was a great film and it should have received more recognition but I'm glad that it is still available on DVD. This movie will capture the attention of many young girls because it's humorous, real and definitely teaches a lesson. I love this movie. |
